There’s a lot going on all over West Texas with the coming of Spring, and the arrival of not only the season, but our first major ingress of tourists and visitors of the year. These are just a few local events we can look forward to this month.

New Spring Schedule at the Old Overland Trail Museum beginning March 3rd 2022:
Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 2pm – 4pm
Located at  511 Fort Street (at the corner of 3rd Street)
Fort Davis, TX 79734

Texas Trail Tamers will be teaming up with volunteers from the Davis Mountains Region to build a New Trail at the Chihuahuan Dessert Nature Center and Botanical Gardens on Hwy 118 south of Fort Davis. The  trail will lead from the Visitor’s Center to the beautiful Modesta Canyon. This ;roject is scheduled from March 6th through the 12th.

The CDRI Cactus & Succulent Sale will be from
March 14 to 16, 2022, or until all are sold.

Old Spanish Trail Centennial Reenactment Excursion will be in Fort Davis on Saturday March 26th.
 
Put on by Ultra Expeditions Races the Soutwest 100 Eco Trail Race will take place in the Davis Mountains on March 26 and 27th. The race starts on the San Antonio-El Paso Road in the Fort Davis National Historic Site. There are levels for runners who wish to do the 104 mile course, the marathon or half marathon, and 5 or 10 K races. See their website for Registration and more information.
