Mother Mary’s Spiritual Goods
Metaphysical Supplies in Neighboring Marfa~ We take the short trip to neighboring town Marfa fairly frequently. A favorite stop these days is the lovely and unique Mother Mary’s Spiritual Goods. The friendly and knowledgeable proprietor, Amanda Holstien, carries a diverse selection of metaphysical and esoteric wares. From Tarot Cards and other divination supplies to candles, jewelry, herbs and soaps, to incense, oils and potions, her offerings keep expanding...

The Big Re-Brand
Changing it Up Besides a Name Change and some design decisions, we are also leaning more toward a circular economy model. We already carry both some vintage and quality used clothing and accessories (belts, scarves and jewelry, etc.). We also have always had an eclectic selection of vintage goods, household wares and decor items. I have dealt in vintage goods through my Etsy shop (recently closed) and other outlets for a number of years. I’ve been a collector since I was a teenager, as was my Dad. It believe it is in the blood.

Bella Vista Fort Davis Shop
This charming gift shop needs to be Seen. The short drive out is pleasant and scenic. The shop itself commands a view that most would envy. It is so pretty out there. On the Deck, festooned with rustic decor, ceramic bells, plants and pots, and gorgeous wreaths, you get a vista of the surrounding mountains that just can’t be had from town. Marcia has stocked the store not only with her own gorgeous floral wreaths, arrangements and creations, but absolutely the best selection of gift ideas I’ve seen anywhere in West Texas so far. You don’t have to drive to Odessa or Fort Stockton to find the perfect gift for…

West Texas Celebration~ Well, is everybody ready for #Fort DavisTexas Coolest Fourth Festival (See the Chamber of Commerce Website for complete schedule). We’re especially looking forward to the Parade tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10:00 am. We’ll be at the store early for anyone who wants to shop as well. Somewhere Over the Rainbow will be open Friday and Saturnday (June 30th and July 1st) until 6 pm, and Sunday 11 to 4 pm (or later if we still have shoppers). We’re planning regular hours on Monday the 3rd and Tuesday the 4th (but again, we’re flexible if you want to shop).

[New] Beginnings
New Year, New Dreams & Goals I can’t believe we’re already over half way through January 2023! However, that’s what the calendar is telling me, so I guess I just have to go along. In order to meet at least one of my goals for this year, I had better get this post written and published. I hope to be more forthcoming and interactive with my online presence this year. That means at least two Posts on this Blog every month.

Live Local
This is an edited Repost from last year. The Idea of Shopping and Living Locally is as relevant and important a topic as ever. Happy Holidays… Close to Home Whereas I’m a proponent of Thinking Globally, I am also always aware of and trying to be mindful of what is happening close to home (Where the Heart is!) We need, I believe, to be considering the implications and ramifications of the actions we take, not just personally, but as each ultimately affects the world we live in. And a great deal of what influences the directions this planet is being carried, happens close at hand. We live in a culture…

Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving
Ode to the Food Holiday I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving. However, it feels like winter outside in Fort Davis, Texas as I write this, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. We at Somewhere Over the Rainbow would like to tell you all how much we appreciate you. We are Thankful and Grateful indeed. And we want to wish everyone the best and happiest Thanksgiving, in whatever form you like to spend it. For me, it is undoubtedly one of my favorite Holidays, and not only because it is a Food Holiday, though that figures into it. I spend two days cooking… the meal is over in less than an…

Almost Halloween
It’s that time of the year again! Almost Halloween! At Somewhere Over the Rainbow, we kind of love Halloween. Before we moved here, I would put on a rather over the top Halloween Party every year, complete with wacky themes, amazing costumes, and all the best spooky food. It was an incredible amount of work. The first year without one was okay. A break from doing the big party six or seven years running. Now, I kind of miss it. However, we have the shop decorated for Halloween, and as we get closer to the day, there will be Costumes. There is a bowl of Trick or Treat Candy on the…
