The Dreams that you Dare to Dream

… Really Do Come True The summer flew by. We are settling into Fall after the fun and rush of having relatives from Florida [Daughter and Granddaughter to me; Sister and Niece to my co-workers] visit. I so enjoy doing the whole tourist experience in this area that I love so much. You get to see every thing with fresh eyes, and we get around to things that just get overlooked or put off in our day to day life. From Prada Marfa to the Château Wright Winery to munching lunch from a Food Truck, it was a great week. We squeezed in what we could— shopping and a walking…

    Thinking in Circles

What Makes The World Go Round Searching for an Eco Philosphy That Works I’ve been thinking a lot about creating a sustainable business for quite some time now. It is a difficult economy, and a difficult idea to Sell, much less to achieve. What Makes The World Go Round Searching for an Eco Philosphy That Works I’ve been thinking a lot about creating a sustainable business for quite some time now. It is a difficult economy, and a difficult idea to Sell, much less to achieve. It is true that the concepts of reusing and recycling are part of the mainstream now. As a culture, we have come a very…

Shopkeepers on the Edge of Eternity

Standing Stones, Dolmen, Menhirs and Cairns... A Megalithic Landscape! The land here is made of Magic. I look around me at this tumbled landscape of Stone and Mountain, and can almost see the hands of ancient giants at work. It is if they (?) were erecting standing stones and menhirs , or building cairns to guide, amaze and delight all who happen to come upon them. And surely, to remind us just how small and insignificant we are in the grander scheme of things. If the land weren’t enough, the sky here is made to induce awe. In the daylight, shades of blue from the palest, to hues of such…

    [New] Beginnings

New Year, New Dreams & Goals I can’t believe we’re already over half way through January 2023! However, that’s what the calendar is telling me, so I guess I just have to go along. In order to meet at least one of my goals for this year, I had better get this post written and published. I hope to be more forthcoming and interactive with my online presence this year. That means at least two Posts on this Blog every month.

    A Thoughtful New Year

Looking Forward ~ This is West Texas, and if you weather it, if you survive its harsh and unyielding initiation, you will find that it gets inside you, that you become as volatile and unwavering as this land, and that you Love it with all your Heart and Soul. Now, the question for this New Year and those to come, is how to best serve this beloved place, how to best fit it and to live with it, and to properly honor it at the same time? I already know that I want us to renew our Intent to Live our Ideals, to continue to promote a more eco-conscious lifestyle,…

    Live Local

This is an edited Repost from last year. The Idea of Shopping and Living Locally is as relevant and important a topic as ever. Happy Holidays… Close to Home Whereas I’m a proponent of Thinking Globally, I am also always aware of and trying to be mindful of what is happening close to home (Where the Heart is!) We need, I believe, to be considering the implications and ramifications of the actions we take, not just personally, but as each ultimately affects the world we live in. And a great deal of what influences the directions this planet is being carried, happens close at hand. We live in a culture…

    Only the One Earth…

World Environment Day June 5th, 2022 I have been getting outside (mostly in my yard— I’m a wannabe permaculture gardener) a bit more since the weather has begun getting better. That is, if you overlook almost 40 degree drops in temperature from one day to the next, and my first Haboob since returning to Texas in 2020. I’m pretty sure we experienced (at least) one when we lived here previously. I just wasn’t aware that they had such an odd name. It almost seems sometimes, that with the advent of the internet, mankind got around to giving exotic and often egregious names to any weather condition or anomaly previously overlooked…

    Happy Birthday to…

Somewhere Over the Rainbow The long and short of it is that I’m not sure if it feels like a year since we launched this small Shop on the Edge of Eternity or not. Some months have trickled by like a dried up desert spring, and others have rushed by like the water down State Street after one of our monsoonal downpours.  (Yes, we think about Water a lot out here.)  However it might feel to me, a year has wound passed since we opened the store. The Official Birthday is March 18th (Wednesday; the only day of the week we are closed) but we will be celebrating this significant…
